Program Sessions

 §          Emerging Leaders Kick-Off

Meet your team and facilitators, as well as other students in the program through some crazy activities! You are also introduced to the foundations of leadership and discover all the great things that are coming up.

§          Group Dynamics*******

How do leaders clearly recognize and manage aspects of group dynamics? Explore the roles and responsibilities of group leaders and develop strong team-building skills. Practice these skills in an exercise that challenges you and your team to save the world from a major disaster.

§          Understanding Yourself and Others*********

Who are you? Take the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and find out! Gain insights into your personality and explore how different types complement each other in solving a murder mystery.

§          Conflict Management****

Sure, it makes us crazy, but not all conflict is bad. Discover effective communication and listening strategies. See how leaders make conflict work to their advantage.

§         Ethics and Values*******

Have you ever really thought about your personal values and ethics? Where did they come from and how do they influence your decisions? Decide the fate of an escaped prisoner and rank ethical actions encountered everyday.

§          Valuing Diversity******

Succeed in our diverse world by learning the language and concepts of diversity. Challenge stereotypes that inhibit successful team development in this engaging dialogue about identity, culture, and race.

§          Diversity Roundtables***

How do race, gender, ethnicity, and class impact leadership? Explore these diversity topics and others through small group roundtable discussions. Choose the topics that most interest you!

§          Marketing Your Leadership Skills *****

Pull together your self-knowledge that was acquired throughout the program and learn the best ways to communicate your Emerging Leaders experience.

§ Power and Influence****

How do power struggles affect the attitude and performance of yourself and others? Examine the dynamics of acquiring power and influence through the lens of a major motion picture.

  • The Leadership Journey Continues *********

Prominent leaders share their experiences to inspire and motivate you as you move forward into your leadership endeavors. The program concludes with an awards ceremony and dessert reception.
