Please read the following TRAFFIC UPDATE:

The Oakland Transportation Management Association (OTMA) and the University of Pittsburgh community outreach program has gathered information about the Boulevard of the Allies Bridge Replacement Project. The project is in the beginning stages of a two year span and includes bridge replacement, highway improvements, and a new slip ramp from Fifth Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies.

Certain traffic restrictions (lane closures/traffic detours) have been implemented including: an outbound single lane closure of Forbes Avenue from Moultrie Street to the Parkway East ramp; an inbound lane closure of the Boulevard of the Allies from the existing North Ramp to just past the Bath House; and a detour for McDevitt Place. Please note that inbound and outbound refer to directions to and from Downtown.

All inbound traffic on Fifth Avenue will be restricted to a single lane from the intersection at Robinson Street to the Bath House. (AFTER Craft Avenue so the zig-zag to the contra-flow lane on Forbes to the Boulevard of the Allies will not be affected). Construction of concrete islands at the intersections of Robinson St., Maurice St., and Fifth Avenue will restrict inbound traffic through these intersections to a single lane.

These lane closures are expected to last through Fall, 2007. Work in 2007 will focus on building retaining walls and the new entrance ramp from Fifth Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies. The Boulevard of the Allies Bridge is not expected to close for replacement until 2008.
